Production is fully underway and some new equipment is being brought online to facilitate quality and timely shipping. Thank you all for working with us during the transition. We look forward to producing some variations of our Marlin Sights as well as adding some new sights to our lineup!)

After a long and successful career as a High School Math Teacher, then High School Principal, followed by several years as School District Superintendant, Dr. Tim Skinner began making sights with a small lathe and mill. He added equipment when it was financially feasable to increase production and quality. While discussing the design and production of the ladder sight, Dr. Skinner and I engaged in a business deal which resulted in my purchase of Skinner Sights. In August of 2010 the shop was relocated from Ronan, Montana to my home town. St. Ignatius,Montana 15 miles south. Here at the foot of the Mission Mountains, (one of the most beautiful mountain ranges in the world) Skinner Sights continue to be crafted and hand fit for you, the discriminating shooter.

This picture shows two of our mills. The one of the left is a small manual mill. I have found it to be very accurate and just the right size for our needs. The mill on the right is a CNC (Computer Numeric Controlled) mill.  It is programed using the laptop computer that you can see on the right.

The stems and apertures are made on lathes.   The main lathes I use in the shop are a 10X22, a 13X40 and a Weiler turret lathe.

The 10X22 has been extensively modified to meet my needs.  This lathe uses a variable frequency drive so I can control RPM and forward and reverse. It is also equipped with a DRO (Digital Read Out) which allows me to measure my cuts to a 100 thousandth of and inch.



This is where holes are drilled and tapped. Final grinding and polishing also is completed in this area on the two belt sanders at center and right of the picture.

I have enjoyed designing and manufacturing sights. Making tools and jigs to mill and turn the sight parts has been a challenge. Feedback from customers like you has helped me improve and refine our designs.
